Jake Sagal, Staff Reporter

On Nov. 12, the Global Student Association (GSA) hosted its annual international food night. Hosted in the event space, representatives from nine different countries cooked traditional cultural meals for LU students. The countries represented included Greece, France, Mexico, Albania, Myanmar, Sweden/Denmark, India, the United States and Japan. The event was successful with attendance reaching 103 students, staff and family members.

Senior Bora Ajdini led the event. When asked why international food night is important to her, she commented “International food night is a great way to connect with different cultures and increase appreciation and understanding of the beauty each culture carries with it.”

Bora recently took over GSA this semester as president. Other new GSA leadership roles include Vice President, Michaela Schmitz, and Secretary, Jake Sagal.

Another upcoming GSA event is international night, which will occur on April 15, 2023. During international night, students dress up in traditional cultural clothing and celebrate their home countries by carrying flags and undertaking traditional dances.
