Former Milwaukee County judge Janet Protasiewicz was elected into the Wisconsin Supreme Court on April 4 of this year.

Both Protasiewicz and her opponent, Daniel Kelly, ran as non-partisan candidates. While Protasiewicz ran as an independent, many on the left are hailing her election as a victory.

She received a plethora of support from the Democratic party in the form of marketing and advertising. Both Protasiewicz and Kelly spent a record amount, making this election the most expensive Supreme Court election in history.

Protasiewicz has made her stance on being pro-choice clear. Celebrations appreciating the protection of women’s rights occurred throughout the state following her election.

The next election for the Wisconsin Supreme Court will be in April of 2025.
