If you could go back?

Andrés Gonzalez, Staff Reporter

Every senior has a couple things they wish they would have known or done differently. It’s a part of college and certainly a part of life. However, that doesn’t mean they can’t impart some wisdom from their hard learned lessons to underclassmen who are now stepping into the same shoes. We spoke with several seniors and asked what advice they would give to underclassmen from their four years of experience and here is a compilation of what they said.

  • Check different websites for your books, you can always find them cheaper

One of the biggest expenses outside of tuition is books. Money can be tight in college so finding one more way to pay less is always helpful. Textbook spyder is a great resource for price checking textbooks from multiple websites simultaneously.

  • Form relationships with professors

Just like in any endeavor we all need a little help. Those relationships can be pivotal to our success. This is no different in college, it can be intimidating at first, but most professors are there to help and who better than the person who is assigning your work.

  • Have outlets to turn to when the going gets tough

When things get really stressful the best way to relieve that stress is to have outlets. Hobbies, favorite places to go to, and or people you enjoy spending time with are all great ways to help get you back on your feet when you feel a bit burnt out from school.

  • Go to therapy

On a page of Coe College’s website they highlight some benefits of going to therapy. Among them are improved self-esteem, ability to change self-defeating behaviors and better expression and management of emotions. College is difficult and we all deal with problems day to day. Going to therapy helps create skills that can lessen your overall stress and improve your college experience.
