Fall and Christmas festivities near campus

With the weather finally cooling down there is no better time to visit Maywood Park.

Located only a few miles east of campus, Maywood is an environmental park with multiple trails perfect for winter exploring. Students can find a quiet place to meditate and reflect while having the ability to hike through beautiful and well-maintained terrain.

Admission is free, and the park does not get very busy around this time of year. The park ultimately connects to nearby Evergreen Park, which may also be of interest to Lakeland students who are looking to get into the holiday spirit.

Every year, from Nov. 25 to Dec. 31 there is a Christmas lights show that takes place at Evergreen Park. Students are able to ride through the park in their own vehicles and tune their radio to a specific station to hear Christmas music that matches the movements of the lights. Admission is free; however, there is a nonperishable goods drive at the end of the show that students are recommended to donate to.
