In an email sent out by David Gallianetti, director of external relations, on Tuesday, Oct. 18, a fundraiser was announced in support of Chris Werner, assistant professor of instrumental music and director of bands.

From the email, “As many of you know, our colleague, professor and friend, Chris Werner, has been battling [esophageal] cancer for the past two years. Currently, Chris is at home recovering from surgery and preparing for another round of chemotherapy. Because of mounting bills and expenses, a group of Lakeland employees are holding a fundraiser for Chris.”

The fundraiser event will be held Sunday, Nov. 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the 1862 Lounge, with the Packers game on the TV.

Ways in which students, staff, faculty or community members can help support the event are by:

  • Attending the event
  • Buying raffles
  • Donating gift baskets for raffles
  • Donating to the GoFundMe page set up on Werner’s behalf by clicking here

Per the email, “All gift baskets can be given to Alan or Robin Mock or David Gallianetti.”
