When it comes to the safety of all students at Lakeland, Campus Safety is here to help.  Lakeland has brought in a new head of security Jason Hraban.  This will be Hraban’s third semester as head of security here at Lakeland.  Hraban looks forward to helping students and having a friendly face on campus.

Hraban has served law enforcement for over 25 years.  His duties before coming to Lakeland University was a school resource officer for the past 9.5 years.  With so much experience in law enforcement he has done many events to teach citizens to protect themselves.  He has informed the public about Active Shooter Response/Rapid Response, Defensive and Arrest Tactics, Taser, Mobil Field Force Crowd/Riot Control, Professional Communication, Krav Maga and S.P.E.A.R System.  He also worked at the Segregation Building and the Lower Adjustment Center at the Waupun Correctional Facility for two years. With all of Hraban’s experience he comes to Lakeland University.

This will be Hraban’s third semester serving as head of campus security.  With being active on the campus.  Campus security previously hosted events and are looking to host more events in the future.  “For events, Campus Safety will be doing our Alcohol Awareness, Self Defense, Fire Safety and assist Residence Life with programs they offer. Campus Safety also participates in all major events such as Winter Carnival, Muskie Extravaganza, home sporting events and graduation. We are always trying to come up with more ideas for programs to make the student experience better.”  Be sure to look out for these events in the future.  Campus safety is looking to provide helpful lessons that students can learn and use in the real world.

Coming from different parts of law enforcement, Hraban is enjoying his time at Lakeland University.  “I love it here at Lakeland. I love the campus, the staff, and students, most of all, being able to see young adults grow over their time here at Lakeland. I believe everything starts at the top and trickles downward. Dr. Borgen has done an amazing job leading the way and setting the tone here at Lakeland. The best part of my day is coming to work. I have an amazing staff who are always willing to go the extra mile for Lakeland. I have yet to come across someone here that has been unpleasant or not willing to help. That is a very rare thing to have nowadays.”  Hraban enjoys working for Lakeland and the people that surround him every day.

Students can find the Campus Safety Office on the lower level of Brotz Hall next to the Prevea office.  If students ever need to get into contact with Campus Safety, students can call (920) 565-1126.
