Due to a recent change in location for this Friday’s convocation, the upper level of Lakeland University’s Campus Center will see a slight transformation from meeting space to, as David Gallianetti described in the mass email sent to Lakeland students and staff February 15th, a “jazz club”. World-renowned jazz artist Kate Reid was originally scheduled to take the stage at Paradigm Coffee & Music café in downtown Sheboygan but will now be performing on the second floor of the Campus Center. This convocation begins at 7:30 p.m., with the Pub opening a half-hour earlier for those looking to purchase refreshments before the show begins. Students are encouraged to attend Reid’s performance to earn one convocation credit.

The Los Angeles-based singer will be performing two sets of her music which, according to her website, www.katereidmusic.com, has been aired on radio stations worldwide, including Canada, South Africa, Europe, and the United States. One of Reid’s other accomplishments listed on her website’s biography include “co-authoring the GLEE Vocal Method book with Andy Waterman of Umbrella Media.” Her voice has appeared in many movies throughout her career as a studio singer including Men in Black III, Star Trek Into Darkness, Epic and Planes, to name a few. Her work has earned praise from several publications, including Real Jazz-Sirius XM, Jazz Times, and Cadence Magazine, as published on her website.
