Senior, Kai Buliox, spent his time at Lakeland as a Blue and Gold Champion, the captain of the Men’s Basketball team, a residence assistant and as an entrepreneur bringing his own clothing company to campus.  Buliox is the founder and creator of the clothing brand Sine Timore.  Buliox started his brand in August 2023 at the start of the school year.  Buliox has extensive support from students on campus and family.

Coming up with a brand name is never easy for anyone; however, for Buliox, his came right away. Sine Timore translates to “without fear,” but Buliox says fearless.

The idea behind [my brand] is that I feel like many people in society today are scared to be judged, whether it is their friend group, clothing, or whatever hobbies they may have. I feel like you would express yourself however you want and wear what you like, especially since many people make first impressions through your appearance.” Buliox wants everyone to be themselves when they wear their clothing and live without fear.  With any company they need a strong support group and following.

Starting a company has many challenges, but Buliox greatly appreciates all the support he has received. “My support is mainly my immediate family and girlfriend along with close friends. I feel like they do their best with supporting my ideas and keep it honest with their input whether I like it or not.”

Buliox’s girlfriend, Giselle, has been a great inspiration for his brand. Buliox said, “I mentioned it to her for months prior to starting and [she] was the main person who pushed me to start it along with my immediate family.” His immediate family is Buliox’s strongest supporters and the reason why he started.

Buliox has been part of the Men’s Basketball team for all four years here at Lakeland.  With basketball, academics and owning a company can be a difficult task for any student.  “The hardest part about running a business would be the balance between athletics, academics, work and being able to produce quality items that will attract people to my brand.” These challenges have taught him how to manage multiple things at once and push himself past his limits.

Buliox’s brand has made a huge splash on Lakeland University’s campus. With a support system here and beyond, Buliox looks to continue his clothing brand when he goes for his master’s at the University of Wisconsin-Madison next year. There is no doubt that Buliox will live without fear.
