On Sept. 29 and Sept. 30, the Muskies women’s volleyball team faced a couple of NACC opponents in conference games, losing the first and winning the second.

The Sept. 29 matchup pit the Muskies against the Aurora University Spartans. The Muskies were close, but didn’t have much spark, losing 3-0. Sophomore exercise science major Shannon Bishop and freshman undeclared major Shelby Block both lead the Muskies with five kills on the night.

On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Muskies women’s volleyball team took on their second opponent of their conference game-filled weekend: The Benedictine University Eagles. This game went back and forth as both teams traded sets. In the end, the Muskies powered through to beat the Eagles, 3-2. Senior education major Brittini Scoles contributed 14 kills with Bishop following behind her with 11 kills. Senior undeclared major Allison Errthum had her season high, with 24 digs.

After these games, the Muskies split their conference record. They are now 2-2 in conference play with a 7-14 overall record.

The Muskies women’s volleyball team will have their next game on Friday, Oct. 6, at Dominican University at 7 p.m. This will be their fifth conference game of the year, while Dominican is also 2-2 in conference play. The Muskies will stay in Illinois for the night, as they will take on Concordia University of Chicago the next day, Oct. 7, at noon.
