On Oct. 14, the Lakeland University Muskies football team defeated Benedictine University in a NACC conference game with a score of 57-21.

The Muskies started off hot when they forced Benedictine to punt in their first possession, and junior undeclared major Diante Moses recovered a blocked punt. He then proceeded to head to the end zone for a touchdown to make it 7-0 in the first two minutes of the game. Two possessions later, Benedictine struck back by scoring on a 26-yard touchdown. Benedictine attempted a two-point conversion and successfully converted it. The Muskies quickly regained the lead from a 12-yard rushing touchdown from sophomore undeclared major Dezmon Eddie.

The Muskies went off from there going into halftime as they were leading 29-14 with a couple of touchdowns from senior business administration major Michael Whitley, one passing and one rushing.

Halftime did not slow down the Muskies at any moment. They went on to score two more touchdowns in the third quarter and two touchdowns were scored in the fourth quarter. The Muskies went on to win the game 57-21.

Lakeland was lead by Whitley’s stellar performance. He had a total of 323 passing yards with three passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. Junior exercise science major Eldrada Meeks also had great contributions to the win as he produced 132 rushing yards with a rushing touchdown.

The Lakeland University Muskies football team will be taking on Wisconsin Lutheran College next. This NACC conference game will be on Oct. 21 at Wisconsin Lutheran College at 1 p.m.
