Students in Lakeland’s The Mirror have repeatedly reported hearing heavy steps and silent moos from the shadows of Old Main Hall. Students also report loud, random creaks of the floors and doors slowly opening on their own. Faculty suspects the cause is that Old Main is an old building. However, there could be other reasons for this issue.  

Founded in 1862, Lakeland University has a history of spooky stories. From rumors of haunted tunnels to rumors about mysterious happenings behind the woods, Lakeland has it all, but have you heard the one about the cow? 

Well, a while back, The Mirror students of Lakeland snuck a cow up to the third floor in Old Main Hall. Because the group meets in Old Main, they had somehow figured out how to get back in later in the night. The group of meticulous students took the cow up but made one lengthy mistake.  

Now, if you didn’t know, cows can go up, but not down the stairs. So, they killed it. And guess what, now the cow is back! Students say that the cow has come back for revenge and is haunting the current group of students in The Mirror, despite their non-participation in the act of killing.  

If you were to come by Old Main in the late hours of the night, you could hear the eerie moos of the cow, yearning to be set free. 

Or, perhaps, none of this is true—happy April Fool’s Day.
