Graduation stands as the single most important milestone in college. Although a daunting time for all students, The Mirror has some tips and tricks toward making this milestone a reality.

  • Book lodging and travel accommodations.
  • Talk to your parents right away so they can book flights and arrange accommodation.
  • Plan to have up to 10 guests per graduate. Adults and children are welcome.
  • Enjoy the Baccalaureate concert for families on Fri., May 10.
  • The theme is “Gratitude for the Journey.” This event will be held for one hour starting at 6 p.m. in the Campus Event Space. Musical offerings will be provided by Chamber Winds and Choir Students. Light refreshments will be provided.
  • Dress to impress.
  • Wearing a nice blouse and khakis, a dress, a shirt and tie or something you would wear to an interview works best. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes.
  • Plan to arrive an hour early for your ceremony.
  • Lakeland will hold three ceremonies on Sat., May 11, 2024. Each ceremony will take place in the Woltzen Gym, located in the Wehr Center.
  • Seek medical assistance if needed.
  • Medical emergencies will be taken care of by trained professionals on site.
  • Enjoy food and fellowship.
  • Lakeland’s cafeteria will be providing $12 meals for all in attendance. The Daily Grind will be open from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the ground floor of the campus center.
  • Celebrate your day!
  • Flowers and bears will be sold in the Wehr Center from 8:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.
  • Share your success virtually.
  • If any of your loved ones are unable to attend the ceremony in person, share the livestream link with them as soon as possible. This livestream will be available on My.Lakeland.edu.
  • Capture this moment forever.
  • Professional photos will be taken during the ceremony by Empire Photography. Photos will be posted after 48 hours. Contact information: [email protected]

While tensions and emotions rise as we near this important milestone, following the tips and tricks outlined above will ensure you have a smooth graduation and can focus on celebrating with your family and friends.
