Student government association is back up and running with new leadership this semester.
Among a mass return to normalcy following the dark days that were marred with COVID-19 restrictions, Lakeland’s student government association (SGA) has finally returned under new leadership.
SGA is organized and run by both residential and commuting students. The new interim president, Alycia Herr, commented “SGA is a student ran organization where we speak for the students, and it is so beneficial to be back and running so we can be a resource to all students and organizations on campus.”
Plans to grow student government are already in full swing, with upcoming planned elections as well as multiple projects for campus life in motion. In the upcoming election, students will have the opportunity to run and vote for the positions of president and vice president. SGA also works with numerous other organizations and clubs on campus to ensure they are voiced to the administration have the necessary tools and resources to be successful.
While the campus is still transitioning back to normal following the tight restrictions of the prior few years, many may find comfort in having a rejuvenated voice to the administration.
