Intramural Sports at Lakeland University

Karla Ceja, Staff Reporter

Looking for ways to try new things and meet new people? Well, Lakeland has exactly what you need by joining one of the intramural sports. Whatever your favorite sport the opportunity to play, whether it be soccer, basketball or dodgeball, Lakeland has tournaments for all on Sundays from 12-4 p.m.

LaJill Edge, director for student activities and engagement, explained students can go and participate in any ongoing tournament. “Students should participate so they can meet new people, get involved and have fun like the high school days,” said Edge. Because some Muskies did not continue playing sports at the university level, this is a fantastic opportunity for them to get back out there and do what they love doing–playing their sport!

Edge is working on scheduling intramural sports for Fall 2022 on either Friday or Sunday nights. Recently, Edge sent out a survey for our students to see what they wanted for intramural sports this fall, and our students decided they want more pick-ups rather than tournaments.

For those interested in joining, there will be tournaments on the following dates:

  • Sand volleyball (depending on weather) on April 10
  • Flag football (depending on weather) on April 17.
  • Tournaments and the open gym will continue Sundays from 12-4 p.m.
