Shuttle service for JB’s cancelled

The shuttle service between Lakeland and JB’s Entertainment on weekends has been discontinued due to lack of student interest in the sign-up sheet.

Because of the campus center closure that shut down the 1862 Lounge, the university teamed up with JB’s Entertainment Center in Howards Grove to give students a place for recreation. JB’s allows many student organizations to host events on Saturday nights.

Since the bowling alley is off campus, security director David Simon proposed a shuttle service for students to utilize. A shuttle would be available to any students needing transportation to and from JB’s. Sign-ups were available to those wanting to utilize the service in the lower level of WAK.

The shuttle service was set in place to prevent drunk driving, DUIs and death. However, due to lack of student interest in the sign-up sheet, the shuttle has been cancelled. According to Simon, it was not worth paying the shuttle driver. Nevertheless, Simon and the security department have no issue with setting the shuttle service back up if student interest is shown.

New this semester, the shuttle services are now commuting students to and from the General Mitchell Airport and Greyhound Amtrak in Milwaukee. It is best to notify the shuttle service two weeks in advance and show a printed copy of reservations to Simon or the shuttle driver.
