Fresh Check Day raises spirits, mental health awareness

Lakeland University’s Fresh Check Day occurred on Sept. 13, coordinated by the Counseling Center of Student Development’s leader Alex Liosatos.

The event was intended to be a positive way to bring awareness to the important topic of suicide and mental health. With the untimely deaths in 2018 of celebrities such as Anthony Bourdain, Kate Spade, Mac Miller and Kyle Pavone, Fresh Check Day gave Lakeland students an opportunity to come together and recognize that help is available for those who need it.

15 students walked away as prize winners thanks to the various donations from local community businesses ranging from an Xbox One and FreakToyz T-Shirt (won by Kenneth Ayers), to a giant cuddly teddy bear donated by the Counseling Center (won by Corey Allen).
