Comedic ‘Bible’ play coming to Lakeland

Mallory Pautz, Staff Reporter

Lakeland University’s 2018 fall performance will be “The Bible: The Complete Word of God, Abridged.” This convocation event, free for Lakeland students, will be held in the Bradley Theatre beginning Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. and wrap up with a matinee starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11.

Though the play does include some religious overtones, it is a family-friendly show featuring the Bible’s greatest hits in what theatre director Charlie Krebs described as a “humorously irreverent” way. The ten “rejected” commandments with a Wisconsin twist comprise just one of many comedic bits to be found within this spoof.

Audience members can expect to be a part of the show as there will be a large runway through the center of the theatre. “The performers will be right there,” Krebs mentioned “You can reach out and touch them!”

Advance tickets for “The Bible” are currently available to be reserved through the welcome desk within the Campus Center or online through the Lakeland University website. Students wishing to sit together must reserve their tickets together. Additionally, the Bradley Theatre’s Box Office will have tickets available the night of the event. Pricing for non-Lakeland attendees is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students with a current college identification card.

“A previous version of this story inaccurately stated… Emily Davis would be assisting the play and Evan Chancellor would help with the music.” This is the case for the spring play, not the fall play.
