Outdoor Summer Activities

Are you staying on campus this summer and looking for something to do? Look no further. The following list has many potential activities that you can participate in with your friends this summer:

 

State parks

Kohler-Andrae State Park – 1020 Beach Park Lane, Sheboygan

Activities: Hiking, biking, swimming, camping, fishing and picnicking on Lake Michigan

Sheboygan Marsh Wildlife Area – W7039 County Road SR, Elkhart Lake

Activities: Canoeing, birding, watchtower

Kettle Moraine State Forest—Northern Unit – N1765 Highway G, Campbellsport

Activities: Hiking, biking, swimming, camping, boating, canoeing and kayaking

 

Bike Trails

Whether you stick to a marked trail, follow the county roads or travel around one of the nearby towns, there are plenty of opportunities for bike riding in this area over the summer.

Howards Grove Loop – 33 miles if you follow the path

This loop can start at Lakeland and takes riders through Howard’s Grove, Sheboygan and past the Sheboygan County Memorial Airport.

 

Parks and Beaches

Whether you are looking to picnic, enjoy Lake Michigan, view wildlife or just get off campus, there are many places to enjoy.

Ellwood H. May Environmental Park

3615 Mueller Road, Sheboygan

There are six unique ecosystems, an Arboretum, a butterfly garden, a hummingbird garden and trails to walk on. If you are looking for a free adventure outside, this is one place you can visit.

 

Festivals

On June 28, Plymouth hosts the Plymouth Festival of Fine Arts, where you can enjoy the works of many different artists, see demonstrations and enjoy the live bands.

Farmer’s Market – June – Oct. Wednesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Sheboygan Pops Concert Band promotes band music all summer long with their six concerts throughout the summer. To hear different songs played on a variety of instruments, this is one place to be. For times and dates, check out the above web address.
