Ask Rina: Weary Big Sister
March 22, 2016
Dear Rina:
My fifteen-year old sister just got her first boyfriend and I am terrified. She has seen a lot of the mistakes that I have made in the past and I am extremely fearful that she will make some of the same wrong decisions that I made. What should I do?

Dear Weary Big Sister:
You have to let her grow up. The most you can do is suggest things to her. Do not yell or point the finger, because that will only run her away.
You want to make sure that you keep a positive environment for her to remain comfortable expressing things to you. At the end of the day, she is going to do what she wants to do, regardless of what anyone has to say about it. I am a living witness to this fact, because I was once in your younger sister’s shoes.
