On Nov. 7, the Mission House Center held an event in the Laun Center educating the audience on how to share one’s faith. The three guest presenters and panelists were Rev. Lee Barrett of Lancaster Theological Seminary, Margaret Trost, founder of the “What if?” foundation, and Rev. Greg Whelton from St. John’s United Church of Christ in Sheboygan.
The evening event offered feasible advice on how to more profoundly bestow the love of Jesus.
Barrett presented first and had the crowd take a quiz. This quiz was not graded but instead helped the crowd understand the way they see their faith and Jesus in their daily lives. Barrett explored the different ways Christianity plays on each individual’s heart. Barrett offered insight for each category of personal meaning and explained the importance of each.
“Jesus appears to different people differently,” said Barrett in explaining the need for understanding each Christian’s view on Christ.
Trost has been in partnership with Haitian people for 13 years through her “What If?” foundation. Trost presented her faith and how it has changed through the inspiration of the Haitian people. Trost explained the need for hope, change and putting faith into more than words.
“In the midst of trouble, God is present more and more,” said Trost.
Being a pastor, Whelton offered helpful insight about the differences he sees within each denomination. Whelton’s presentation helped the audience see how to improve individual commitment and the ability to minister to Christ’s liberating inhabitance.
“[In terms of] worshipping, one size does not fit all,” said Whelton.
The night ended with a question and answer session between the panelists and audience that allowed the speakers to share their views more in depth.
