Lakeland University has many Greek communities which include Pi Kappa Gamma, Phi Delta Omega, Alpha Phi Iota, Mu Lambda Sigma, Beta Psi Nu, Beta Sigma Omega, and Zeta Chi. There are four sororities, four fraternities, and one co-ed fraternity.
Joining Greek life can lead to meeting new people, and building bonds with the people on campus but being able to have someone they can call sisters and brothers. It is a family away from home being able to build a bond and being able to look for future jobs when the time comes up. The alumni can also be a great resource for asking for support, ideas, and getting help with planning big events.
Students who join Greek life can benefit from meeting new people and building lasting bonds with their Greek family. Greek life also offers students the ability to create a family atmosphere and culture on campus that may be beneficial when looking for jobs in the future. Furthermore, students can also benefit from connections to alumni.
Students can join Greek Life by attending the Student Involvement fair and attending Rush Week events. The student involvement fair is where the school hosts an event in the campus center where all different organizations and clubs will go to get new members or explain who they are and what they represent. Rush week is when all Greek life holds events that everyone is allowed to attend and being able to learn more about the different organizations. They can pick one by attending the events and talking to their potential brothers and sisters about what their interests are and learning more about the organization itself.
Maddie Wohlgemuth, president of the Phi Delta Omega’s commented on the goal of Greek life, saying: “[they] develop relationships and connections within the Lakeland University and Sheboygan communities through numerous services and projects we participate in and to strive for educational excellence to get the most out of the academic program Lakeland has to offer and further our success in the future career endeavors.”
