The Lakeland women’s volleyball team faced off against Edgewood College on Wednesday Oct. 12 in an NAC conference match.
The Muskies were without freshman starter Caleigh Galvan due to an ankle injury. Galvan’s replacement, Junior Melissa Christiansen, stepped up and recorded season highs with eight kills and 15 digs.
Despite Christiansen’s best efforts, the Muskies still couldn’t beat the NAC co-leader, Edgewood, which has a record of (20-4) and is (9-1) in conference play.
Lakeland had its best chance in the second set, leading 14-8 at the midway point, but they eventually fell 26-24.
Junior Brittany Reindl led the Muskies with 28 assists as Lakeland fell to the NAC conference co-leaders. Senior Taylor Daus also added seven kills to the Muskie effort while Junior Tess Myklebust tied her season high with twelve digs.
Lakeland is now 14-9 on the season and 4-5 in NAC conference play.
The Muskies have the weekend off, but travel to Marian University next Tuesday in another NAC conference match up. Lakeland has already defeated Marian University in four sets this year at the Red Hawk Invitational at Ripon.
