On Friday, Sept. 28, the Lakeland women’s volleyball team couldn’t get much going against Aurora University even after winning the first set. They were swept in three straight sets to drop the match. This was in large part due to Lakeland posting 30 errors in the loss.
The Muskies then faced off against Benedictine University on Saturday, Sept. 29 in an NAC conference match where they were swept in three straight sets. Despite facing an 18-2 Benedictine team that was undefeated in conference, the Muskies kept it close, losing 25-22, 25-22, and 25-21. Senior Taylor Daus led Lakeland with nine kills.
Finally, the Muskies played a match against Maranatha Baptist in an NAC conference away game on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Lakeland dropped the first set 25-27, but rebounded by sweeping the next three sets to win the match. Once again, Daus led the Muskies, this time posting a career high 19 kills en route to a four set romp.
Junior Brittany Reindl also led the Muskies with 51 assists, of which helped lead the ladies to a strong victory. The victory was especially sweet because Lakeland was able to hand Maranatha Baptist just their second loss of the season.
