The Lakeland College Women’s Softball team beat Marian in both games of a double header at Marian on Apr. 11.
Junior pitcher Erin Henk got the call to start in both games. In game one, Henk pitched seven innings, allowing six hits, and three runs (one earned), in addition to striking out five. In game two, Henk threw seven innings, allowing five hits, no runs, and struck out four. The Muskies won 5-3 and 2-0 respectively.
“We played hard and we played really well defensively,” Henk said. “We stayed up the whole game, even when we had chances to get down on ourselves. It was just an overall great two games.”
Offensively for the Muskies, sophomore Chelsea Gile and freshman Kate Wallen had two RBI’s each to lead the Muskies and junior McKenna Wenzel added an RBI as well.
“We played very well,” Gile said.” “We were strong on defense and we eliminated errors and did what we needed to do to win.”
With the wins, the Muskies are 12-8 overall and 7-1 in NAC play.
The Muskies will resume action on Apr. 14 at Concordia University Wisconsin. Game one of the double header will begin at noon.
