Coming off a solid 3-1 weekend, it seemed the Muskies simply weren’t prepared to play Tuesday night, when they faced opponent St. Norbert College.
The Muskies would lose the game by 10-run mercy rule in the seventh inning. The final score was 12-2.
Lakeland went through a carousel of different pitchers during the game, who allowed 12 runs, on 13 hits, and gave 8 walks.
The struggles started right away for the Muskies, when starter Trenton Schwalbach continued his struggles giving up 6 runs in the first inning.
The Muskies would put a pair of runs up. One in the second, when Charlie Sparrow hit an RBI double, and then another later in the game, on a double play scoring Morris.
The Knights were never really threatened though scoring two runs in fourth, one in the fifth and sixth, and then finished out the game with two more runs in the seventh.
Matt Kruegar led the team offensively going 2-3 and three other Muskies also tallied hits, but that would be all the Muskies could muster.
Lakeland looks to get back on track by Saturday, April 21, when they travel to Rockford for a conference double header. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.
