Lakeland’s 2024 Homecoming week took place Sep. 30 through Oct. 5. This week consisted of fun events and activities such as sporting events, a pep rally, alumni games and more. The week was also full of themed dress-up days.
Monday’s theme was country or country club. The day ended with a golf outing for students at Luxe Golf. Tuesday’s theme was a student favorite with it being pajama day. Residence Life’s annual Ben & Jerry’s in your PJ’s Title IX education event that night had a very large turnout.
Wednesday was jersey day. At 10 a.m., the rock, paper, scissors tournament began and went on throughout the entire day. Men’s soccer played a home game against Dominican University. The Muskies unfortunately lost 4-0.
Thursday was class colors day, and the night ended with a pep rally in the fieldhouse. Lakeland’s beloved mascot Musko even made an appearance. Muskie pride day was on Friday, and lots of students showed their pride at the men’s soccer game against Aurora University. The score ended up being 1-5 with the Muskies taking another loss.
Saturday was the most eventful day of all. Students were encouraged to wear their 2024 Muskie Homecoming shirts. The day started early with the softball alumni game at 10 a.m. and the women’s basketball alumni game at 10:30 a.m. Alumni games are always an incredible way for past and current Muskies to meet and learn from one another,
The main event was the Homecoming football game against Benedictine University. It ended up being an amazing game for Muskie football with a final score of 42-21. Following that, women’s soccer played a home game against Aurora University. Interestingly, neither team came out on top, and the game ended in a tie. Saturday night ended with an incredible performance from DJ Rawlz in the Campus Center.
Lakeland’s Homecoming is one of the best events of the fall semester. The Muskie community shows up in all aspects. Students, families, professors, and alumni all come out to celebrate this annual event.
Although there is no official date set for Lakeland’s Homecoming 2025, it is sure to be just as eventful as this year’s.
