New band director Evan G. Chancellor’s first concert at Lakeland took place on Oct. 11.

The Fall Band Concert was titled “Heart Songs” after the “Heart Song” movements that were played during the concert in tribute of composer David Maslanka, who died earlier this year, as was stated by Chancellor during the concert.

Chancellor spoke regarding the band concert, stating that the band is very hard working and that he loved the concert. Dr. Chancellor also stated that he is “very proud in them and proud in their hard work.” Chancellor mentioned his pride in the diversity of music performed.

The next band concert is the Christmas at Lakeland concert, which will also be conducted by Chancellor later this year. The concert will be a collaboration with the Lakeland Choir.
