Weekly Outlook: Oct. 4-Oct. 8

There are several events happening on campus this week. To be sure to get your fill and plan appropriately, here’s the weekly roundup:

Tuesday, Oct. 4—

  • 11:30 a.m.—Commuter Club Meeting—Laun 210—The first club meeting of the year for commuters to stay connected with campus will feature a free lunch of chicken tenders, tater tots, garden salad and cookies.
  • 12 p.m.—Alphabet Soup meeting—Laun 110—The LU student community is breathing new life into an LGBTQ and ally student organization with the first meeting of Alphabet Soup.
  • 4 p.m.—Men’s Soccer vs. Lawrence University—Muskie Soccer Field—Cheer on the Muskie Men at this afternoon home game.

Wednesday, Oct. 5—

  • 10:30 a.m.—Kickoff Relaxation Station Event by the Daily Grind—Campus Center—This event runs until 1:30, so stop by to check out what’s on offer for relaxing.
  • 12:15 p.m.—Chapel Service—Ley Chapel

Thursday, Oct. 6—

  • 7 p.m.—ThinkHaus: Cutting through rhetoric of political debates—John Michael Kohler Arts Center Sheboygan—Are you confused about all the verbal tactics and ploys that candidates use to spin their words in debates? Do you want to decode the rhetorical maneuvers the speakers employ? Attend this event, hosted by Assistant Professor of Communication Casey R. Schmitt, to see through the smoke and mirrors of the election.

Saturday, Oct. 8—

  • 1 p.m.—Women’s Soccer vs. Concordia University Chicago—Muskie Soccer Field—The women play the first soccer game of the day; show up for your Muskies and cheer them on.
  • 3:30 p.m.—Men’s Soccer vs. Concordia University Chicago—Muskie Soccer Field—Cheer on the men’s team and show your support at their second home game of the week.
