Sexual Assault Awareness run to be hosted at LC
April 14, 2016
The Phi Delta Omega sorority will be hosting the Teal-Out the Tolerance 5k Run on Sunday, April 17 at 12 p.m. The Teal-Out Run is a 5k walk/run featuring the color teal, which is the official color of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which is during the month of April.
The event will take place at Lakeland, registration online is free and day-of registration is $1. The first 15 registered runners will get a free t-shirt.
The color run will run similarly to the highly popular color runs, in which runners will be doused in a teal pigment, which does not stain skin.
The running course will start at the football practice field, follow the cross country course and will end back at the football field.
The Teal-Out Run is meant to help raise awareness of sexual assault that happens throughout Lakeland and the other surrounding communities. All proceeds raised will be going to the Safe Harbor shelter in Sheboygan, specifically to the Adopt-A-Room program.
“Many rooms at the shelter are in need of remodeling and we plan to help paint and make as many rooms at the shelter as homey as possible for the adults and children who have to unfortunately pass through the shelter,” stated Brianna Hansen on the Eventbrite page.
For those interested, you can sign up online here or visit the registration table in Bossard Hall during lunch hours.
