Have you seen the new security SUV around campus?

Yes, that black, unmarked cruiser does belong to Lakeland’s security department. After replacing the transmission twice, mechanically and financially the old Explorer was no longer practical and the new 2016 Ford Explorer was acquired earlier in March.  

Has Lakeland security gone undercover? Not quite.

David Simon Jr., director of campus safety and security, stated Lakeland will wait for the official name change of Lakeland College to Lakeland University before adding any custom signage or paint to the new vehicle.

“The Explorer should be finished by fall, 2016,” Simon said.

Hopefully, no one gets to see the inside.
