Professor of Writing Jeff Elzinga’s Advanced Fiction Writing class will be holding a public reading night on Wednesday April 17 at 6:45 p.m. in the Pub at Lakeland College.
The class has decided to call their event “Fiction Frenzy: A Night of Short Stories and Open Mic.” The reading will feature selections of fiction from the portfolios of the seven class members and will end with an “open mic” time for others to read their work, whether it is fiction, nonfiction, or poetry. Refreshments will be provided free of charge starting at 6:45, and the reading will begin at 7:00 p.m.
The entire reading night was organized by the class members: Nathaniel Baake, Rachele Hansen, Sean Gilligan, Juleya Tucker, Kristin Olson, and Michelle Fromm. The class took the opportunity to hone their skills for event planning and practice for the professional world.
A variety of themes will be visited in the selected readings for the evening, so all attendees are sure to find something that tickles their fancy. Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own polished work for the open mic portion.
