Lakeland College’s family weekend is a time for families to visit with their student and explore a day in the life of a Muskie.
Sponsored by LC-CAB, this event will consist of fun filled activities on campus starting this weekend, Friday through Sunday. Friday night’s activities include basketball games, a meet and greet with the president and faculty in the Wehr Center and the fall play production in the Bradley building.
Emily Gonyo, sophomore business administration major and event coordinator of LC-CAB, is in charge of planning and coordinating the activities for this event.
“The family weekend gives students the opportunity to bring their families to see our activities on campus,” said Gonyo.
With The Daily Grind being open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., this gives students the opportunity to fill their parents with caffeine before taking them out into the cold November weather and showing them around campus.
Crafts and CANstruction, a can building competition related to the Cans Across the Conference Food Drive, will keep everyone entertained. Other attractions include a magic act, dinner and show and another showing of the play.
If a family would prefer to eat dinner off campus, LC-CAB will be distributing flyers for local restaurants that provide discounts for anyone who can produce a student ID. These flyers will also have coupons for the families to use.
Sunday morning there will be breakfast bingo in Bossard hall. Before heading over to the Chapel for a service at 10:30 a.m., remember to satisfy that caffeine craving at The Daily Grind, again open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Although there are already 20 families signed up for this weekend event, Gonyo encourages more students to attend.
