Women’s tennis finishes season

On Saturday, Oct. 8, the Lakeland University women’s tennis team fell short during their last two matches of the season against Wisconsin Lutheran College and Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Lakeland faced WLC for their first match of the day, losing 7-2.

Carly Brault received a win at No. 4 singles as she defeated her WLC opponent with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Mikayla Hilton also won her singles match at No. 5 singles, defeating her opponent 6-2, 6-1.

Lakeland fell short to MSOE at their second match of the day as MSOE defeated them 6-3.

Hilton received her second singles win of the day at No. 5 singles, crushing her MSOE opponent 6-0, 6-2. Rachel Conery also added a singles win at No. 6 singles, snatching a 6-4, 6-4 victory from her opponent. Ann Schroeder and Tyner Strawn teamed up at No. 2 doubles as they seized a win against their opponents 8-3.

The Muskies concluded their season with a 1-8 record in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. Their season showed significant improvement since last season, during which the team had all new players and a new head coach.
