Accomplishments should not go unnoticed, especially in sports. Players put in their hard work, and they deserve a form of recognition. In recent events, the men’s volleyball team has exploded in its first year competing at the NCAA Division III level. One player in particular, Alec Redlich, has stood out. Redlich was recently named a first team All-Continental Volleyball Conference West Division selectee as a postseason honor—the first player to ever do so. If you look at what he has done for the team, there is no argument.

Redlich led his team with 3.58 kills per set (351 kills in total) which earned him third in CVC kills and fourth in the conference in kills per set. He was also third in blocks for the Muskies and second in digs.

Redlich wasn’t surprised by the award.

“I felt like I played well enough during the year to make an impression on the coaches,” says Redlich. “I wouldn’t have felt cheated if I didn’t get all-conference because I know that there are many other good players around the conference.”

Redlich and the Muskies were ranked this season and even went to the CVC tournament. Unfortunately, they lost to Stevenson (Md.) University in five sets.

Although the season has ended, Redlich has taken the opportunity that he was given by USA Sports Tours & Events to travel to Brazil and play for an all-star team with selected players who were recognized as All-American, region or conference athletes. The selection happened before the postseason honors.

The players will be participating in five international matches. They will also be visiting famous sites in Brazil, making trips to the beach and getting to know Brazilian culture. They will spend most of their time in San Paolo and Rio.

Redlich can’t wait to leave for Brazil.

“I am very excited,” says Redlich. “I’ve never really been out of the country before, so I can’t wait to see what another culture is like firsthand. I’m also excited to meet and play with some great volleyball players.”

Good things come to those who wait, but great things come to those who work for it.
