New flag football league starts at Lakeland

Sam Martin, Staff Reporter

Yes, all the screaming, yelling and mud flying around in between Grosshuesch and Muehlmeier means flag football is back at Lakeland.

The LUFFL, or Lakeland University Flag Football League, was thought up by Lakeland University Head Baseball Coach Michael Bachar. The idea was then handed off to Senior Sam Martin, who is now running the league as commissioner.

The league is, for now, comprised of seven teams, six of them students and one comprised of coaches from the University’s athletic department. Each team has a captain, or player coach, and five players. Each team also has a regular season schedule of fourteen games, then every team will play in a seven team bracket for a chance to play in the “Turkey Bowl” which will be played on November 21st.

The league also has trades, free agents, will have Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year and an MVP award. Follow and like the LUFFL on Facebook and Twitter at The LUFFL Facebook page and @LUFFL1 respectively.

The league is now open, so if you wish to join or would like more information, contact Sam Martin on Facebook or at [email protected].
