Understanding the Sabbath

“Taking Sabbath Seriously,” which will begin with a light supper, will take place on March 2 from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m.

Jessica Kalmar, assistant professor of psychology, will share about the Sabbath and the traditions of her Orthodox Jewish faith. Following Kalmar’s presentation will be an open conversation on the importance, appreciation and practice of the Sabbath.

The Sabbath is, according to The American Heritage New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, the “holy day of rest and reflection observed each Saturday” in Judaism. It recognizes the last of the seven days of creation. For more information or to register for the event, visit Lakeland.edu, or contact Colleen Darling at [email protected].
