LC students provide taxes help

Through the local Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, accounting students are providing lower-income citizens with free tax return services. This community work is part of the accounting major, and it allows the students to gain hands-on experience. Starting Feb. 3, Wisconsin residents with a household income under $53 thousand a year can come to the Sheboygan Salvation Army for assistance. The program runs from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Since its start, the program has earned citizens almost $10 million in tax refunds. For more information, or to make a reservation, call (920)565-1000, ext. 2290.
